Why Do Cars Go to Auction?

renault zoe sound

If you've ever wondered why cars go to auction, you're not alone. This is a well-known way to save money on used cars. While the process is a bit more involved than you might think, the benefits of buying a car at auction are worth a look. The auction organizers make sure the cars they sell have been in great condition and are of excellent quality.

Public car auctions

You may have heard about public car auctions, but do you know what they are and what they mean for you? Public car auctions are a great way to get a vehicle for a bargain price. These cars are often written off because they have serious mechanical problems. Some cars are damaged, vandalized or have serious mechanical issues. These cars can often be repossessed and seized by police. These auctions offer great deals. But, there are some things you should keep in mind before you begin to bid.

Public or private auctions

You can get a great deal by buying at a government or police auction. Although the government does not allow test driving, you can still inspect the car. If you have the mechanical skills, you can take a mechanic. You won't always find the best deal, but these auctions can help you save a lot.

Dealership auctions

Dealer auctions are a great way to get a great deal on a brand new car. Dealer auctions offer car dealers the opportunity to purchase high-quality vehicles at an affordable price. These events allow dealerships to purchase multiple vehicles simultaneously, saving them both time and money. It can be an option to purchase a quality car through a dealer. Prices are often negotiable. Buyers should take care and do pre-sale inspections.

Closed auctions

These auctions are held by government agencies. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) uses passenger cars, light trucks, school buses, and other vehicles to test vehicles for safety. After passing safety testing, the vehicles are submitted to the GSA and listed for sale. These vehicles are marked as "disaster", or "not roadworthy", and/or "salvage." If you are interested in purchasing a vehicle from these auctions, you must contact the auctioneer to register, and you must sign a Disclaimer Statement.

Programm cars

There are two ways to buy a vehicle used: through an auto dealer's sale or via a program car at rental car companies. Both methods are equally valuable. But the difference lies in how the vehicle is valued. Because the vehicle is still in its original condition, an auto dealer auction can offer great deals. Program cars, however, tend to be in great condition.
