Each day, technology in modern cars is improving. You can find embedded connectivity, mobile telematics, as well as other features on almost all cars. Continue reading to learn more about these new features. We'll also take a look at CarPlay and Android Auto. What are the benefits and disadvantages of these new features? And what are some of the best options?

Embedded connectivity

Many advantages can be gained from embedded connectivity. It gives real-time notifications about weather and road conditions. It improves vehicle to-vehicle communication. The smartphone trend also allows drivers to track the location of their cars. Remote activation of climate-control systems can be done remotely via embedded connectivity. The hardware is embedded into the car, and it establishes a unique internet connection via a GSM Module. Reliability poses a significant problem for connected cars. Even though it seems like a great idea at first, there is still a risk of misinformation and poor communications.

Telematics embedded

The increasing popularity of connected cars is making it more challenging for carmakers to build them themselves. It can be overwhelming to decide which telematics system to use, with so many options. Both embedded telematics as well as brought-in systems each have their pros and cons. Before making a decision it is important to know what each option entails. This is a quick overview of the benefits and drawbacks embedded telematics has for your car.

CarPlay

Apple CarPlay allows iPhone users to access the iPhone's apps via their car's infotainment systems. These apps allow users to make phone calls, send text messages, access navigation, audio entertainment, manage calendars, and much more without touching the phone. CarPlay functions in a similar way to Google's Android Auto and allows users to access iPhone functions via the car's infotainment. In addition to the usual features, the CarPlay system can also control iPhone functions using voice commands.

Android Auto

If you're looking for an easy way to connect your smartphone to your car, you may want to check out Android Auto. Android Auto allows you to access your phone via your car's multi-touch display. You can activate it by pairing your Android phone with the auto-launch feature on your car's multimedia display. If you're not using Android Auto yet, you can download it from the Google Play store and install it into your car. Once the Android Auto app is installed, you can switch it on by connecting your phone with a USB Cable. After this is done, you'll be asked to give permission for your phone to access your car display.

FAQ

What jobs are available for car mechanics?

Three main areas of employment are available for car mechanics:

  • Automotive repair shops
  • Dealerships
  • Independent garages

Automotive repair shops

This is where most people consider becoming a mechanic. It's the easiest way for most people to get started. Either you can work in a shop that is owned by another person or start your own business.

You will need to join a union if you want to work in a shop. Once you have been accepted into the Union, you'll be given training by the union.

Once the training is completed, you can start working.

Register with the government if you want to open your garage. You'll need to meet certain standards after you register.

When you've registered, you'll be given a license to operate your garage.

Your license allows for minor repairs and spare parts sales. It won't permit you to fix serious engine problems.

Apart from selling spare parts, customers will also expect you to provide guidance and advice.

Dealership jobs

Most dealerships only employ mechanics who have a specific skill set. They might be able to only fix brakes or replace tires.

Some dealers also have general mechanics that can handle all aspects.

Some positions require that applicants complete training before they can be allowed to work. Employers can then choose the best candidates for their job.

Some dealerships hire students straight out of college. These graduates are already familiar with basic mechanics and can therefore learn about cars.

Independent garages

Independent garages don’t have to be associated with any particular dealer. Instead, they tend to focus on providing high-quality service.

Independent garages have the ability to afford higher wages, as they aren’t associated with any one company. This means that these jobs are usually more lucrative than those at dealerships.

Independent garages can be just as good places to work, but this does not mean they are better. Many owners prefer to control their businesses themselves, rather than delegating it to employees.

So you may find yourself working long hours without having any say over what happens during the day.

Expect to earn lower salaries than if you were working in a dealership.

It's possible to switch between jobs. You can switch jobs easily if you are interested in working at a dealership. Simply ask your employer if they would be open to hiring you as a mechanic.

Alternativly, you can apply directly to the garage owner if you are interested in working at an independent garage.

Finding a new job is not always easy. There are many factors that affect how much you make.

You might also consider the vehicle type you repair, and whether extra labor is charged.

How long is an apprenticeship for an automotive mechanic?

An automotive mechanic apprenticeship takes around three years to complete. This includes two year at school as well as two years as an apprenticeship. The first year teaches you all aspects, from theory to practical skills and safety procedures. During this time, you'll also learn how to use tools safely and efficiently. After the first year, a second year will be spent on-thejob training. This year you'll get experience in different trades. These periods will also give you the chance to take formal courses.

The final year of the program is spent gaining qualifications and becoming certified in the field. These include NVQs. They are awarded after passing exams on specific topics within the industry. In addition, there are HNCs (Higher National Certificates) that cover general subjects such as management, business administration, and customer service. City & Guilds certificates offer qualifications in certain trades.

Mechanical engineering should be your first choice for a degree. A bachelor's degree can be obtained in four years.

Many employers will also hire graduates straight from school. You should start looking for employment as soon as you are able to continue your studies part-time.

After you have completed your education, you will likely need some training to be able to work as an automotive technician.

You will need to pass the Automotive Service Excellence certification exam. This test covers topics including engine maintenance, brakes, steering systems, suspension, and more.

After passing the ASE test you can apply for a National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (NIASE) license.

You can perform repairs on private cars by obtaining a license. You'll be paid based upon the number of services provided.

Not all states require licensing. However, if you plan to work outside your home state, you'll need to obtain a license.

Some states don’t issue licenses until a certain amount has been completed. If this applies to you, then you may need to find another option.

The two are similar but not identical. An automotive technician maintains cars, while a mechanic repairs them.

A mechanic needs to be able and quick to use their manual dexterity. They should be able to accurately diagnose problems and repair them efficiently.

An automotive technician requires more technical skills than a mechanic. They need to be able use tools such drills and wrenches, and read blueprints.

They must also be able perform complex procedures safely. They need to be familiar with various types of engines and electrical system.

They should also be able understand how different parts interact.

As a result, mechanics typically make less than technicians. There are many job opportunities in both.

How long does a good mechanic take?
